Many of the victims of who perished in the Rhythm Club Fire were buried in a mass grave. The red overlay of this image shows where the trenches are. The victims were buried in long trenches with no markers or headstones. There were several reasons for the mass grave, some victims could not be identified because of the injuries, some just didn’t have their own plots because of lack of money. The other reason is not as simple or easy to talk about but as I have said when I speak about the fire, the more important topic for right now is to honor those that were buried there no matter the reason. In the future I think some of those topics should and need to be discussed but for now, its our job to let people know that they are there and are not forgotten.
